Carolyn M. Bone

Attorney, Mediator & Firm Owner

A Summerville native, Carolyn M. Bone has devoted her legal career to helping South Carolina families navigate change. She founded the Law Office of Carolyn M. Bone, LLC in 2014 after practicing exclusively in family law at a Columbia firm.

Carolyn earned her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2008 and joined the South Carolina Bar that year. She graduated summa cum laude from Converse College in 2005, studying English and Psychology. A former Dorchester District II teacher, her experience also includes teaching at the undergraduate level, and she currently serves as an Attorney Instructor for the Mediation Clinic at Charleston School of Law via her service with The Lowcountry Mediation Center. Ms. Bone is a former Guardian ad Litem, both as a volunteer GAL and trainer with Richland County CASA to support children in abuse and neglect proceedings, and as a private GAL in SC Family Court cases.

Certified as a South Carolina Family Court Mediator in 2017, Carolyn offers mediation statewide and has trained in Cooperative Family Law. Her professional service has included leadership in the Dorchester County Bar Association (President- 2018), service on the South Carolina Bar Family Law Council (two terms- elected), and membership in the South Carolina Family Law American Inns of Court. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Lowcountry Mediation Center.

Carolyn brings a practical, compassionate approach to family law, helping clients understand their options and work toward a thoughtful path forward. Since her admission to the SC Bar in 2008, she has devoted 100% of her practice to South Carolina Family Court work.

When not at work, she enjoys kayaking, native plant gardening, and spending time with her family.
